The Little Red Brick House has nearly 150 years of history in its walls. It’s listed with the State as a “notable” historic site, and been dated to the mid 1800’s. Its construction and building materials are all consistent with “territorial” Indiana. Hand-chiseled limestone steps and lintels, and locally kiln-fired bricks date the structure to the mid 1800’s.
The goal is to relocate, restore and repurpose this historic structure as a ticket booth and concession stand for the proposed Riverfront Amphitheater Project. The building will be relocated in the Old Lock and Dam Park along The Ohio River Scenic Byway. We have support of the Town of Newburgh, in providing a location for the move in cooperation with the Newburgh Arts Commission. The Indiana Historical Society has granted $25,000 toward the project, and over 100 individuals have contributed as well.
